At this point I really wish I were just exaggerating and being a whiney punk… but the situation really is exactly as I explain it. The AC is out AGAIN at work. Outside it’s been about 75-80 degrees. Inside, sitting in my cube, it ranges from 78-85 during the day. It’s really not THAT hot but, sitting there all day with barely any air ciculation, eventually your balls start to sweat, ALOT. It’s fine when you are outside and at least the air is moving, but in the office you eventually are surrounded by a bunch of grumpy and stinky coworkers. I’m sure I don’t exactly smell like roses after 8 hours of ball sweat.
Here’s the cute email we got from building management. I especially like the last line. Today I wore shorts and a tshirt. Tomorrow, its tank top and a speedo.
As some of you may or may not know, the chiller, which helps to cool the building, is down for repairs. With the recent turn in the weather, we will be doing all we can to keep the building as cool as possible. Since most of the heat in a building is created by lights, equipment, people and absorption through outside glass, here are some suggestions on how you can assist us (and yourselves) until the repair work is completed.
1. Close vertical blinds, especially those on the south half of the building.
2. Turn off as many lights as possible that do not restrict your ability to work.
3. Turn off any equipment that is not being used.
4. Wear light clothing.
1 step away from bringing a slip-and-slide to work.
