Bloggers are Smrt!

After a month of no blogging I came across this article by David Sims… Interesting blog article that points out how strange it was that the #1 result of a Google search for Michael Eisner (Disney CEO) was… a blog entry. Well this was May 2002. Now in November 2004 the same link is #4… still a very impressive ranking.

He quotes another guy as saying bloggers are “are a highly intelligent lot.” He agrees with my belief that Google is paying alot of attention to blogs… which I think is a great thing. It gives the every day Joe a bit of a voice on the Internet and weakens the news media a bit, but not nearly enough.

I wonder how much more attention Google really does pay to blogs… and if they pay more attention to their Blogger community than others. I don’t think that it explains why results tend to be more technical than not (for example, a search for “sniffing” returns results related to network analysis, not sniffing glue. There are plenty of bored teenagers out there writing mindless blogs about.. crap… I guess maybe kids these days don’t sniff glue anymore?

What am I getting at? I don’t even know anymore.
